The temple Konpuku-ji (Temple of Golden Bliss) was founded in the second half of the 9th century by Enchin. It is a Rinzai Zem temple. It is famous among haiku lovers for the Basho Hut (Basho-an) that stands on the low hillside at its back. Tradition says that he was there in 1670. Later another Haiku master Buson (1716-1784) came with his disciples and is also buried in the temple.
